I always find the word “about” placed above a big empty white box to be daunting.  Most people seem to go the easy route. Something like “Hi. I’m Chantal. I am 28 years old and live in Palm Springs, California.” yawn.  I’ll try to go a little more in depth than that without boring the crap out of you.

I am a wife.  I am a mother.  I am a pastry chef.  A punk rocker. A musician.  I am  a makeup junkie, I am loud (both in volume and dynamism), and sometimes a pain in the ass.  I fight for those I love, stand up for what I believe in, and sometimes have a bit of an attitude problem.  I can admit when I’m wrong, but I’m usually right. (Except in regards to my husband.  He has an endearing way of being right ALL THE TIME.) I could stop right here, and you would get the point.  However, if I have successfully caught your attention, then you would not mind continuing to read, am I right? 

I married my love at the ripe old age of 21.  Trav and I met online talking shit in a punk rock chat room back in ’01.  We found each other amusing.  It was love at first type.  He lived in CA, I in NC where I grew up.  We quickly became best friends and a year later when i moved to Atlanta, we decided it was time to meet in person.  The second his pink mohawk popped up over the crest of the escalator in the Atlanta air port, it was like a movie.  Everything around me went fuzzy, my ears were ringing, my legs were jello, and all i could see was him.  The rest is history.  We married in ’05 and had our daughter, Chelsea, in ’07.  Three years later our son Cash was born.  Trav is my safe place.  I love him more than words, and will be grateful until the day I die for the perfect children he gave me. 

Mushy shit aside.  My senior year of high school I went to visit family in England.  We went to Calais, France for the day and it was there I passed my first French Patisserie.  The pastries glittered like jewelry in the window.  I was in awe.  I did not know what to do with that passion, since at the time I was living in a small rural town in North Carolina.  Years later after i moved to CA, I attended the California School of Culinary Arts in Pasadena.  Trav was in the full program, and I specialized in baking and pastry.  I have worked under celebrity chefs and at famous hotels.  I worked my way up to executive pastry chef at the Parker Palm Springs hotel.  I currently have resigned from that position and am waiting out the month-long notice I gave.  I have some very exciting things in my future, but that is what this blog is for!
